Uber has announced that is joining hands with a key medical transportation company that has connections to some of the nation’s largest health insurers. Reports suggest, Uber Health will partner with American Logistics Company. The partnership has been seen as the rideshare company’s first national collaboration with a healthcare transportation management company.
The partnership also hints on the expanding opportunities of ride sharing companies which has gained rivalry from from Lyft, along with competition from other startups like Ford Motor Company’s GoRide Health, who are also investing in non-emergency medical transportation services.
American Logistics shares contracts with Caremore, a unit of Anthem, which is also one of the largest health insurance companies and has about 40 million health plan members.
“The combination of Uber’s vast driver-partner network and American Logistics’ full-service, turnkey transportation solution delivers an unmatched level of access to millions of healthcare plan members,” commented a source person from Uber Health in a statement. “Healthcare plans and organizations can now provide smarter patient pickup and drop off, scheduling, real-time GPS tracking, and messaging through one unified platform.”
